Gertrude Malchoff Obituary

CLYDE - Mrs. Gertrude E. "Gert" Malchoff, 83, of 409 Route 414 South, died on Sunday (November 28, 2010) at her home following an extended illness.
Family and friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday (Dec. 1) at the Baris Funeral Home, 87 W. Genesee St., Clyde. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday (Dec. 2) at the Clyde United Methodist Church with the Rev. Barbara DeAngelis officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery Clyde.
Memorial contributions to the Clyde Volunteer Ambulance Corps, PO Box 245, Clyde, 14433 or to the Clifton Springs Oncology Dept., 2 Coulter Rd., Clifton Springs, 14432 would be appreciated.
Gert was born on March 26, 1927, one of 17 children, to Archibald and Hazel Weaver Parker. On August 25, 1951 she married the late Ellis "Dick" Malchoff and has lived in Clyde ever since. Dick predeceased her on February 5, 2001. She had been formerly employed by the General Electric Corporation and more recently had retired from the Newark Developmental Center. She and her late husband operated a roadside fruit and Christmas tree stand for many years. Gert enjoyed playing cards, especially poker and playing bingo, however, her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her large family and attending family gatherings.
She is survived by her two daughters: Cynthia (Robert) Witter of Clyde and Nancy (William) Roloson of Sodus; her five grandchildren: Tammy Witter Fullerton, Elizabeth Witter Kring, Jackie Darrow Alexander, Melissa Roloson and Ian Roloson; six great-grandchildren; her brother, Chet (Carmella) Parker of Savannah; her five sisters: Margaret Isgar of Syracuse, Irene (Charles) Korthas of Liverpool, Daisy Crim of Weedsport, Mary Prosser of Weedsport and Helen (Douglas) Carey of Auburn; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Gert was predeceased by her grandson, Robert Witter Jr.; and 10 brothers: Herbert, Floyd, Arthur, Archibald Jr., Roy, Richard, Leon, Stanley, Peter and Charles Parker.

Cindy and Bob,
Just want to let you know how sorry I am to hear of your Mom's passing. She was quite a lady and was a lot of fun when I first met her (which would be maybe 36 years ago). I am sure she was a good influence on you and all her grandchildren. All the best to you at this difficult time.

Cindy, Bob and family...so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I still remember the balck Ford Falcon we drove in the school parking lot while taking Driver Education.
I think of our conversation at the class reunion in August with both of you and your children (grandchildren)often and what a wonderful evening we all had.
