A former Wilmot 7th floor dweller
February 9, 2022
I was going through some pictures on my phone and saw something that reminded me of Harlan. Both him and I had the almost exact same type of sickness. We used to pass each other in the hall way out for a walk dragging our IVs with family close by. One day we started talking and from then on; we were buddies. Harlan asked me how do I keep my sanity -as someone not nearly as active as H- I said I exercise as much as it allows me to. So he said well, what do you do, and I said push-ups and waking. Not one second after that he´´s dropped and doing push-ups on the floor!! The nurses quickly broke that up. From then on I knew H was a warrior and true Man of God. I forget who went home first initially, but we said to each other good luck, and keep fighting. I think I saw Mrs Martin and Old Man Martin a few mos later and said hi.. and to pass along my greetings to Harlan as he wasn´t up for company. It broke my heart for the family after I saw his obit. As bad as it was for both of us, I knew I could count on him for a smile, or a quick joke about the farm. I´m deeply sorry for your loss and may the Lord bless you.
