Harold "Butch" Brentnall Jr.

LYONS - Harold J. Brentnall Jr., 82, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Newark Wayne Community Hospital.

Friends may call from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St., Lyons, N.Y. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Lyons United Methodist Church, 93 William St., Lyons, N.Y.

Memorials in his name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Harold was born in Tuxedo, N.Y. on September 11,1942, the only child of the late Harold Brentnall Sr. and Helen Billy Brentnall. While in high school, Harold worked as a school janitor. After graduating in 1960, he worked in manufacturing, until a position at the local post office came open. While working at the post office, he also was part time officer on the Tuxedo police force.

Having moved to Lyons in 1975, he has worked for the South Lyons Cemetery, was a farm hand for Ganz farm, staff at Wayne Feeds, emergency dispatcher for Wayne County (when it was based in the Lyons Fire Department), and retired from the Lyons Water Department.

Better known as Butch, he loved trains and the history of railroading. Was a long time member of the Erie Lackawana Historical Society. Butch was an avid reader and loved all books, especially mystery and train books.

Butch leaves behind Sandra, his wife of 58 years, a daughter, Karen Furman; two sons, Darrin (Lynette DeSanctis) Brentnall and Adam Brentnall; one granddaughter, Lily Brentnall and two grandsons, Casey and Jude Brentnall.
