James Blowers Obituary

Hall - James Slocum Blowers, age 85, went to be with the Lord on December 5, 2013, after a short illness. Family and friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday (Dec. 8) at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home, 45 High St., Geneva. Funeral services will be held on Monday (Dec. 9) at 2:00 p.m. at the Hall Union Congregational Church, Main St., Hall, followed by burial in Little Church Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Gideon's International, PO Box 202, Geneva, N.Y. or the charity of one's choice.
Jim was born on April 10, 1928 in North Chili to Newell & Bessie Love Blowers. He grew up in Rushford, N.Y. and graduated from Rushford High School. He married Marilyn Stoffel April 29, 1950. They farmed in Seneca Castle before moving to Hall. Jim & Marilyn operated Ridgefield Farms and also started several Agricultural businesses in Stanley-Agrico Chemical and J.S. Blowers Grain & Bean and in Hall-Kerr McGee Fertilizer until he formed J.S. Blowers & Sons, Inc. which over the years operated several businesses, Kidney Bean processing and exporting, Fertilizer & Chemical farm supply, and the John Deere Dealership. Jim remained active in the Bean business until his death.
He is survived by a daughter, Kathleen (Mark) Lott of Waterloo; sons, Stephen (Mary Jensen-Pulver) Blowers of Stanley and Duane Blowers of Geneva; daughter-in-law, Gayle of Washington, Ind.; grandchildren Heidi and Tamara Lott, Erica (Jeff) Trudeau, Danita, Derrick, and Dwight Blowers; brothers, Warren Blowers and Earl (Donna) Blowers, both of Geneva; brother-in-law Lewis (Lorraine) Stoffel; and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Marilyn, June 13, 2000; his parents; brother Robert (Marian) Blowers; sister Irene (Richard) Noble; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Blowers and Evelyn Stoffel.
