Jeffrey Wachob Obituary

FARMINGTON– Jeffrey Nelson Wachob of Farmington, NY, passed away suddenly of cardiac arrest on July 27, 2023. He was 61.

Born in Rochester, NY on July 2, 1962 to the late David and Claire (Ameele) Wachob. Jeff was the third of four children. Siblings are Deborah Graning (Ron), David Wachob (Mary), and James Wachob (Cara). His childhood was spent in Spencerport and Lyndonville, NY, where Jeff was heavily involved in 4-H. Jeff loved and was dedicated to his family, many nephews and nieces and extended members. After marrying in 1985, Jeff lived in Boulder and Colorado Springs, CO, Columbus, OH and the last 29 years in Farmington, NY.

Jeff graduated from Niagara County Community College and Alfred State College. He had an accomplished career in the HVAC industry and held positions with Lennox, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, CJ Brown, and Siemens. He had a personal commitment to excellence in his career and was a Senior Project Manager for renewable energy, energy efficiency and similar construction projects. Jeff made meaningful contributions to his industry and created lifelong friendships along the way.

Jeff loved people, which is where he thrived and invested his time. He did this over his years in many ways including coaching Little League Baseball and leading Boy Scouts in Farmington. Jeff was strongly committed to Farmington United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday School, served on several committees, was a member of the drama team, led in the Youth Group, and organized youth events including Kingdom Bound and mountain hiking trips to the Adirondacks. He volunteered with Rochester's Flower City Work Camp as a sidewalk club leader for many years. Jeff grew very close to several ministry friends made through a small group Bible Study and a men's breakfast Bible Study. Jeff lived out his life in many intentional and purposeful ways serving God and community.

Jeff enjoyed being in nature and on the water. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting with his brothers, family and friends. Most summer weekends, Jeff could be found boating on Canandaigua Lake and trying to convince his grandchildren to kiss his latest catch. Jeff always had music playing and recently took up playing the ukelele. Jeff had favorite sports teams in every state he lived in including The Ohio State Buckeyes, Syracuse Orange and Denver Broncos.

Jeff is survived by his adoring wife Mary Ann Wachob. Their marriage is a testimony of love and faith. They raised two boys into strong men, Lucas Wachob and Eric Wachob and welcomed their wives into the family as their own. Lucas and Rebekah have children Abigail, Allen and Anna. Eric and Megan have a son, Tucker. Jeff has left a beautiful legacy through all of them. He loved chasing his grandbabies around, looking for an opportunity to be funny and silly. In his wit, Jeff always brought humor to any situation with a good joke and always had a silly comment at the ready; leaving us with so many cherished memories.

Please join us in celebrating Jeff's life and legacy with a memorial service at Farmington Community Church (formerly Farmington United Methodist Church) 5925 Co. Rd. 41 Farmington NY 14425 on Saturday, (September 9) at 11 a.m.

The service will be followed by a light reception.

Jeff came from a wonderful family. Jeff was a kid in youth group when we met him at Yates . He was just a great person, he had an excellent sense of humor, was liked by all who knew him. During my chats with him, he shared he wanted to go into studying air conditioning. He maintained his goal in that education. He wanted to be a dad , and with Mary Ann he was a success in having a wonderful family. Our family was blessed by Jeff . He was a role model to my boys. It is a pleasure to know the Wachobs .
