Joyce Ann "Joy" Danforth

HIMROD - Joyce "Joy" Ann (Yerkes) Danforth age 73, of Himrod, passed away July 20, 2025.

Joy was born June 19, 1952 in Penn Yan N.Y., the daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy (Anderson) Yerkes. Joy graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1970. She married her husband of 55 years and 2 days, Donald Danforth, on July 18, 1970.

Survived by her dear husband Don; son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Alicia Danforth of Italy N.Y.; daughter, Julie Danforth of Campbell N.Y.; brother and sister-in-law, Robert 'Bob' and Diamond Yerkes of Penn Yan; sister, Nancy (the late Lynn) Lamphier of Himrod, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Barbara (the late Robert) Danforth of New Smyrna Beach, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Joy worked at Coach and Equipment in Penn Yan for several years in the 1970's. Then went on to 'Little Things of Joy', her miniature shop at The Windmill for 23 years. She has since been a part of the Finger Lakes Produce Auction, loving every minute there. She loved to garden, watch birds with Don and her cats Camou, Scotchie, Stitches, Abby and Ziva. She had a special place in her heart for FFRC, a cat rescue center in Defiance Ohio.

Joy so loved her Lord Jesus, and the one desire/prayer of her heart was that her husband, children and family would come to know that love. She was a member of Penn Yan Bible Church since 1991 and enjoyed working in the nursery and AWANA program with the Sparkies.

A time to praise God for the Wonderful things he has done will be held at Penn Yan Bible Church, 2015 Kimball Rd., Penn Yan, on Saturday, August 9. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.; followed by a memorial service to honor Joys life at 12:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the church. Weldon Funeral Home of Penn Yan is assisting the family.
