Judith A. "Judy" Birkett

GENEVA - Judith "Judy" A. Birkett, 76, of Geneva, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at the House of John in Clifton Springs.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday (September 3) from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the DeVaney-Bennett Funeral Home, 181 N. Main Street, Geneva, N.Y. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Brookside Cemetery.

Judy was born on September 5, 1947. She was the daughter of the late Donald F. Boughton and Edith Liberatore Clark. Judy was a lifetime resident of Geneva. As a child she enjoyed skating at the Geneva Roller Dome, she was a cheerleader, and later played recreational volleyball. Judy worked at the NYS Agricultural Experiment Station in plant introduction, publications, and the business office for 35 years, retiring in 2003. In retirement, she volunteered with the Finger Lakes Visiting Nurse Service, played pickleball, hiked the Ontario Pathway trail system, stayed active in quilting, gardening and flower arranging, and enjoyed being a vendor at local craft shows.

She is survived by her husband, William Birkett; son, James Rector; daughters, Melissa Birkett Greene and Amanda Birkett; nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter; many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Donald Boughton, Jr.
