June Darling Obituary

ORLEANS - June Darling, (Mayor of Orleans) was born on June 25, 1928, in Rochester, N.Y., to Martin and Nettie Lappan. In 1942, the family moved to Orleans. She met and married the love of her life, Alwyne, in 1944, and together they had 4 children: June, Topper (Roseann), Gloria (David Henninger), and Thomas (Cheryl); her grandchildren: Michael (Jennie) Darling, Jennifer (Bill) Mayer, Mark (Karen) Henninger, Tracey Lewis, Justin (Lara) Darling, and Jerrica Darling. She was also blessed with 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, with 2 more on the way, many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends were an important part of her life.

June worked many different jobs throughout her life. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and loved taking many, many pictures. She was often lovingly referred to as "The Mayor of Orleans," always making sure things were in order around town.

She was one of the founding members of the Clifton Springs Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, where she served for over 49 years.

June and Al spent many joyful years camping at Moffitt Beach in the Adirondacks, a place filled with laughter, memories, and family traditions.

She had a passion for staying current on her favorite TV shows, and she made sure she got her money's worth out of the telephone-never missing a chance to catch up with the people she loved. June had an extensive circle of friends and was known for her warmth, humor, and ability to make everyone feel welcome.

Above all, June was the heart of the family-steady, loving, and always there when you needed her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alwyne; her daughter, June; 12 siblings; and her son-in-law, David Henninger.

I will miss looking at her window as I drive by. She was always up to date on holidays, and other special occasions. With her window decorations. Lovely lady, sorry for your loss.
