Karen VanHall Obituary

NEWARK - In loving memory of Karen Marie VanHall (Cameron), 69, who passed away on August 28, 2025.

Born in Geneva, N.Y. on May 11, 1956, the daughter of Harry James Cameron and Janet Louise Cameron (Fisk). Karen graduated from Newark Senior High School in 1974 and later from Keuka College in 1996 with a Bachelors in Occupational Therapy.

Karen was the owner and operator of the Cross & Shield bar in Newark throughout much of the 1980's, and later renovated the property into her private Family residence where she hosted many Holiday gatherings for Family & Friends.

After College, Karen worked at Seneca Nursing & Rehabilitation Center as an Occupational Therapist from 1997-2012 and will be remembered for the special kindness and care that she took with each of her patients. Karen moved to Florida in 2012 to retire and live out her days close to her children and grandchildren.

Karen is survived by brothers: Craig Cameron (Adele), Randy Cameron (deceased) & Terry Cameron (Bobbi); three children, Daniel C. VanHall, Darcy M. Matchette (Matthew), & Ryan J. VanHall (Brooke); two grandchildren, Jenessa & Brennan VanHall, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life is planned at her beloved lake house in Upstate New York on Cayuga Lake in the Fall.
