Mary Liberatore Obituary

August 19, 1945 – November 3, 2025

FAIRPORT/GENEVA – Mary D. Liberatore died on Monday, November 3, 2025, at The Friendly Home in Rochester, N.Y. after a lengthy battle with dementia at the age of 80. The family is grateful for the kind and caring staff at the Friendly Home.

Born in Geneva, N.Y. on August 19, 1945, to Elizabeth and James T. Donahue, Mary was the fourth of six children. Mary attended St. Stephen School, DeSales High School and the Rochester Business Institute before meeting and marrying her husband of 55 years, Francis J. Liberatore, Jr. of Geneva in 1966. Mary volunteered her time and had various part time jobs throughout her lifetime including many years at the catalog department at JC Penney in Geneva during the 1970's and 1980's; however, her favorite and most cherished role was Mother and Grandma to her two children and four grandchildren. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her family.

Mary is survived by her sons, Mark (Teri) Liberatore and Christopher (Marcia) Liberatore; grandchildren, Brianna (Abraham) Davis, Ashley (Chase Friend) Quartaro, Samuel and Elisabeth Liberatore: step grandchildren, Mackenna and Samuel Munroe; great-grandchildren, Grayson and Abigail Friend and Ford Mark Davis; her brother, Thomas (Wanna) Donahue and sisters, Sheila Lucey, Betty (Pat) DeRosa, and Daine Hamed; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Liberatore, Anne (Joe) Cirencione, Adele Liberatore and Rita Woodard. Mary also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, Francis J. Liberatore, Jr., her parents, James T. and Elizabeth Donahue; as well as her brother, James Donahue; her brothers-in-law, James Lucey and Robert Woodard; and her sisters-in-law, Molly Donaue and Mary M. Liberatore.

At Mary's request, there will be no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8 at St. Stephen's Church, 48 Pulteney Street, Geneva, N.Y. Burial will be immediately following in St. Mary's Cemetery, 2858 County Road 6, Geneva, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Mary's memory to St. Francis – St. Stephen School, 17 Elmwood Avenue, Geneva, N.Y. 14456.
