Mike Colf Obituary
Mike spent 40 years at EG&G Wright Components as a journeyman machinist and head of maintenance. After leaving Wright Components, he pursued his passion for heavy equipment and started his own excavating company, pouring his skill and heart into every project. His love for excavation was evident, but it was his generosity that truly set him apart. Whether fixing a neighbor's tractor, repairing a friend's appliance, or trapping a nuisance animal, Mike was the friend everyone called in a pinch, always ready to help with a smile and a solution.
The heart of Mike's life was his 46-year marriage to his beloved wife, Deb (Cummings). Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren, Wyatt, Lilah, Callum, and Cameron. Mike delighted in sneaking them treats, taking them on golf cart rides, or teaching them to operate an excavator, their laughter lighting up his world. Mike also shared an incredible bond with his best friend, Scott. They spent countless hours, days, and years together around a euchre table or in the woods hunting everything from raccoon to deer, and coyote.
Mike leaves behind his wife, Deb; son, Josh (Lauren) Colf; daughter, Kelly (Phil) Scott; his cherished grandchildren; mother-in-law, Betty Cummings; brothers, Matt (Heidi) Colf and Mark (Chris) Colf; sister, Sheila Winship; Sister-in-Law Sherry (Patrick) O'Neill and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Dorothy Colf, and father-in-law, Donald Cummings.
Calling hours will be held at R.A. Patrick Funeral Home, Main St., Clifton Springs on May 29, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A private burial will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Phelps Fire Department.
Mike's kindness, ingenuity, and love for his family and friends will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all who knew him.
