Nancy Tanner Obituary

GENEVA – Mrs. Nancy L. Tanner, age 84, of Geneva, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the DeVaney-Bennett Funeral Home, 181 N. Main St., Geneva, N.Y.

A family prayer service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2025 at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Stephen's Church, 48 Pulteney St., Geneva. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Geneva, N.Y.

Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Alzheimer's Research or to Our Lady of Peace Parish.

Nancy was born in Geneva and was a lifelong resident. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Marguerite Crowley Roe. Nancy was a graduate of DeSales High School and was employed as a nurse's aide for many years at Geneva General Hospital where she retired from the operating room. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, gossiping, and sitting on her porch protecting her neighborhood. Nancy was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish.

She is survived by her sons, Michael (Lashann) Hatfield of GA and Joseph (Betsy) Hatfield of Geneva; her daughters, Mary (Chad) Brown of MD., Carolyn (Joe) Moriarty of CA, and Susan Rivera of Geneva; fourteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Tanner; her sister, Carolyn Roe; her brother, Sid Roe; her aunt and uncle George and Anna Mae Crowley.
