Roger Waugh Obituary

SENECA FALLS - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roger Waugh, 82, of Tyre, NY. Roger passed on January 19, 2021, due to complications of diabetes, at Newark-Wayne Hospital.

Due to the concerns of the pandemic, there will be no calling hours or service at this time. There will be a celebration of life at the convenience of the family.

Roger was born in Lisle, NY on March 31, 1938, the son of the late Marion Waugh and Isabelle (Oltz) (Waugh) Kidd. He married Wanda Bennett on November 6, 1960, with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage. Roger was employed at the Town of Tyre Highway Department, owned and operated the family dairy farm, and retired from the Seneca Stone Corporation in 2015. He was a volunteer member of the Magee Fire Department for 60+ years, and held the role of Chief for 15 years.

Roger enjoyed spending time outdoors. He loved having his family and friends come and hunt on the family farm, and hunting with neighborhood buddies. Roger was adamant about keeping his lawn neat and tidy. You could often find him sitting in his favorite spot in the backyard, up on the hill under the trees, watching the birds and cars go by.

He loved family gatherings and most of all he loved being Papa to his grandchildren, Samantha (Timothy) Lotz of Seneca Falls, NY and Nicholas Furano of Waterloo, NY and his great-grandchildren, Giona, Madison, and Ethan Lotz.

Roger is survived by his wife, Wanda (Bennett) Waugh of Seneca Falls, NY; daughter, Christine (Martin) Furano of Seneca Falls, NY, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters, Alice (Robert) Ward, Shirley Fellows, Janice Ellis, Bobbie (Dean) Chilson; step-sister, Vivian Heitman; sister-in-law, Roberta Comiskey; and several nieces and nephews that were all tortured by his famous foot and knee squeezes, his way of showing his love. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Roger A Waugh II; sister, Esther Lowery; brothers, Charles Waugh and Richard Oltz; step-brother, James Kidd; brothers-in-law, Donald Davis, Warner Fellows, Floyd Lowery, Norman Comiskey; and his faithful dog, Hunter.

Donations on behalf of Roger may be made to the Magee Fire Department, 1807 NY-318, Seneca Falls, NY 13148, or to the Pathway Home, 1529 State Route 414, Seneca Falls, NY 13148.
