Shirley L. "GiGi" Makarowski

JOHNSTOWN - Shirley L. "GiGi" Makarowski, 82, of Maple Knoll Apts., Johnstown, passed away on Sunday (October 18, 2015) at the Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation for family and friends was held on Friday (October 23, 2015) from 9 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, Glebe Street, Johnstown, followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown.

She was born on December 1, 1932 in Gloversville the daughter of the late Harold Conover and Norma (Wilson) Cooker. She was appointed as secretary to the Fulton County Family Court Judge in 1992 until her retirement. Shirley was a lifetime member of the Women of the Moose and held numerous offices. She was an avid reader, sports fan (Derek Jeter and Kyle Busch), loved to watch TV especially old movies and animal programs. She had many great times at camp at Lorton Lake with her family.
Survivors include two sons, David R. Dupree with whom she resided and was her caregiver for the past 12 years, John L. Dupree of Johnstown; her daughter, Deborah J. Barg and her husband Doug of Seneca Falls; grandchildren, Dr. Michael C. Barg and his wife Amy, Gregory S. Barg and his wife, Stephanie and Kelley E. Barg; seven great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Jackson, Tucker, Audrey, Maxwell, Ellery, and Kymani Barg who always brought a sparkle to her eye; nieces, nephews and many friends; she will be sadly missed by her cat PT.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a brother, Robert Conover who died on February 26, 2015.
