Sophie King Obituary

GENEVA-Sophie King, 98, passed away on Saturday (July 6, 2024) at Geneva Living Center South.

Sophie was born February 15, 1926, in Geneva, NY, the daughter of the late Sukar and James Abraham. She worked at the Pentagon, in Arlington, VA, for many years where she met her husband Chester. Sophie was an accomplished seamstress, sewing all the clothes for her family for years. She loved traveling, having ventured to Syria, Venezuela, Spain, and Australia. Sophie danced often, even belly dancing, and deeply appreciated music. Her favorite song was "Spanish Eyes".

She is survived by her sisters Carol Andrews, Aggie Baroody and Judie (David) Dickson; sister-in-law Sheila Abraham; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren the youngest of whom was born on her 91st birthday; and many nieces and nephews.

Sophie is predeceased by her husband Chester King; daughter Romona Lee (King) Geckle; son David James King, Sr.; brothers David, Alfred (Julia), Raymond, Isaac, and Benjamin (Joyce); brothers-in-law Jack Andrews and Mike Baroody.

Family and friends are welcome to her Graveside service (V. Rev. Father Gregory Murphy presiding) at 1 p.m Tuesday July 16, Glenwood Cemetery, section 22, Geneva. Everyone who loved Sophie is encouraged to attend her Memorial service 4 p.m Monday, August 5 at St. Michael's Orthodox Church, 98 Genesee Street, Geneva.
