Stephen Hamlin Obituary
He is survived by two daughters, Sarah Hamlin (Curtis Hill) and Amanda Hamlin (Erik Major); two grandchildren, Gibson Schwartz and Alyx Hamlin-Cahill; wife of fifty years, Barbara R. Hamlin; three siblings, Judy Hyde, Marion (Pete) Schwartz and James Hamlin (Melissa Free); nieces and nephews; and many cousins of several generations.
Passionate about history, culture, and the arts, Steve devoted himself to the past and the future of his community. In Rochester in particular, he was an early board member of WXXI, Geva Theater, the NY State Transportation Museum, and was Executive Director of the Rochester Broadway Theater League at the Auditorium Theater in the 1960s. Professionally, he was a VP at Schlegel Manufacturing Corp, part of a 23-year career there.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, (June 10), from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Steve's home, 107 Howell St., Canandaigua, 14424.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fort Hill Performing Arts Center, 20 Fort Hill Ave., Canandaigua, NY 14424, The Granger Homestead and Carriage Museum, 295 N. Main St. Canandaigua, NY 14424 or Ontario County Historical Society, 55 N. Main St., Canandaigua, NY 14424.

While searching for memories of our visit to Canandaigua and stay in the lake house with the children back in 1998 we came across this sad news about Steve's passing away last year. We want to express our condoleances to Barbara and the family.
We had a wonderful vacation and our thoughts are often with you.

Steve was a dear friend from the late 60´s on. He worked in the box office during the summer at my brother's theatre, Town and Country Musicals in East Rochester, NY. One summer my parents restored a Lady´s Driving Phaeton carriage for him. He was quite a talented man. Deeply saddened to just find out about his passing. Best regards to the family.
