Theodore Quillen Obituary

GENEVA - Theodore "TQ" Quillen III, 74, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, at home in Wilmington, Delaware.

Born on August 20, 1950, in Paris, Illinois, Ted grew up in Geneva, New York, a place he always considered home. He was the son of Caroline (Simeone) Quillen and the late Theodore Quillen II.

Ted had a lifelong passion for motorsports, especially DIRT car Modified racing. He could talk for hours with anyone willing to listen. That passion began at a young age while watching his father race at Maple Grove Speedway in Waterloo, N.Y., a place that held a special place in his heart. In later years, he founded the Maple Grove Speedway Facebook group to preserve the memories and legacy of the track. He especially cherished his time spent at racetracks across upstate New York, particularly in the pits, where he loved being close to the action.

Proud of his Italian heritage, Ted often reminisced about his childhood in Geneva and the special times spent with his beloved "Grandma Alice," especially enjoying her home-cooked meals. He was also the founder of the "G-Town Boys Breakfast Club" Facebook group, where he connected daily with old friends and shared memories that brought him great joy.

Ted enjoyed cooking, watching classic TV shows, and, above all, anything related to racing.

Though his wit could be sharp, Ted's heart overflowed with love and pride for his children, Alicia Quillen and Theodore "Teddy" Quillen IV; and for his grandchildren, Theodore "Theo" Quillen V and Caroline Quillen, whom he spoke of often with joy and affection.

He is survived by his mother, Caroline Quillen; his children, Alicia and Theodore; his daughter-in-law, Kristin Quillen; his grandchildren, Theo and Caroline; his former spouse, Sonia Quillen; his siblings, Timothy Quillen (Karen) and Juanita (Quillen) Lambert (Michael); as well as his nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Theodore Quillen II, and his brother, Patrick Quillen.

Ted will be cremated and his ashes laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneva, New York. The family will hold a private remembrance, and there will be no calling hours.

The Quillen family extends heartfelt thanks to all who have offered love, support, and condolences during this time, especially to Patricia "Pat" Downward, whose care and companionship during the past year meant so much.
