Thomas Scattaglia Obituary

SENECA FALLS - Thomas "Sully" Scattaglia, 79, lifelong resident of Seneca Falls, passed away at Geneva General Hospital on Thursday, June 5, 2025, with his family by his side. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of family. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later time. Donations in memory may be directed to the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund at TCJayFund.org, the SMS at 95 Ovid St., Seneca Falls, N.Y. 13148, or to a charity of one's choice.

Tom was born in Seneca Falls, the son of the late Emilio and Patricia (Willis) Scattaglia. He grew up in Seneca Falls and graduated from Mynderse Academy, Class of 1963. Upon graduating, Sully worked at Sylvania for a couple of years before taking a job with Goulds Pumps; a career that spanned 35 years. Not one to sit still for too long, after retiring, Sully began working at Silver Creek Golf Course, where he worked part time for another 20 years. He loved the game of golf and Silver Creek became like a second home to him. In his younger years, Sully played ball for the Water Falls Cardinals for three years, and once working for Goulds, he played softball for the Goulds foundry team.

Family was everything to Tom. He married his wife and best friend, Beverly Poormon, and the couple have been side by side for over 61 years. His children have fond memories of him being at their sporting events growing up, and he made it a point to attend his grandchildren's games as well.

Tom always considered himself blessed that he was able to travel and see the world with his wife and family, as well as his high school friends. Together, he and Beverly enjoyed going to the area wineries, listening to music in the park, and dancing to the music of the 60's and 70's.

Sully was a longtime member of the SMS for over 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; son, Michael James (Ruth Anne) Scattaglia; daughter, Michele (Charlie) Schillaci; grandchildren, Grace (Vinson) Sedghi, Emily Anne Zwick, Adam Thomas Zwick; great-grandchildren, Margaret Joyce and Cyrus Bejan Sedghi, Asher Wynn Zwick; sister, Sandy (Paul) Velte; brother, Mike (Sharon) Scattaglia, brother-in-law, Ronald Poormon; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Scattaglia, and sister-in-law, Sue Poormon.

Sully was a good friend. We had some great matches on the golf course. He was so much fun to golf with. He always greeted me with a big smile and was always happy to see me. I was always jealous of his workout routines at the gym knowing I never had the strength or stamina he had. My prayers are with the entire Scataglia family. RIP Sully
