William Rago Obituary
Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 19) at the McGuigan Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow calling hours at 1 p.m. at St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong, 300 E. River Rd., Box 278996, Rochester, 14692, C U R E Childhood Cancer Association, 200 Westfall Rd., Rochester, 14620 or Beverly Animal Shelter, 50 E. River Rd., Waterloo, 13165.
Willie was born on October 17, 1989, in Geneva, the son of David and Lou Ann Rasmussen Rago. He graduated from Geneva High School in 2008. He was an avid fan and loved playing Lacrosse, Soccer and Golf.
Willie was recruited to play Lacrosse at R.I.T. but unfortunately was unable to compete due to cancer in his leg. After almost a year long battle with cancer he was able to return and finish his freshman year and still be a part of the Lacrosse Team. Even after recently being diagnosed with Leukemia he was looking forward to returning in the spring for his sophomore year.
He is survived and will be sadly missed by his parents, David and Lou Ann; brothers, Michael (Tara) Rago and Dan (Amanda Phillips) Rago, both of Geneva; very special friend, Jamie Post of Horseheads; his beloved dog, Jack; grandparents, Harold and Karen Rasmussen of Penn Yan, Ann Rago of Geneva and Sue Rago of Geneva; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Willie was predeceased by a grandfather, Bud Rago; and uncle, Steve Rasmussen.
David, Lou Ann, Michael, Tara, Dan, Amanda and Jamie would like to thank their family, friends, work places, the Geneva community, Men's R.I.T. Lacrosse team & their families and the Doctors, nurses and staff at The Golisano Children's Hospital for their love and support over the past two years.

I never met Willie and yet I know him well. I have heard others, many others, speak of his goodness and his light. The days and the earth are duller now but our heaven is brighter. The angelic Lacrosse team richer with talent.

My children and I were very blessed in knowing Willie, the Rassmussens and the Ragos overs the past 40 plus years. You are all truly amazing and caring people. You have all always been there for my family whether it was for support, fun or need. My heart aches for all of you...Life is sometimes so unfair. Willie will be truly missed, he was an amazing kid.
