Bertie Bottoms Obituary

Bertie Lee Bottoms, age 95, of Cumming passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012. Bertie loved her family, and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed her garden also. Bertie was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Broughton Bottoms; son, Grady Bottoms; great-grandson, Matthew Nolan; son-in-law, Hugh Hammond; parents, Oscar and Cora McBrayer; brother, Hoyt McBrayer; and sister, Willie McBrayer.
She is survived by her children, Tommy (Joan) Bottoms, Harold (Rose Mary) Bottoms, Martha Hammond, Mary (D.C.) Nolan; sisters, Edna Wheeler, Hazel McBrayer; nine grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Bottoms, the Rev. Robert Martin, the Rev. Alan Dixon and the Rev. Tommy Estes officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, Nov. 5, from 6-9 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 6, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Megan and Pete Fowler in the care of Gina Deal.
