James Walker Obituary

James William Walker Jr., known to family and friends as Bill, passed away May 30, 2010, at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bill was born Sept. 24, 1931, to Vevia and James Walker in Columbia, Ky. He served in the United States Air Force as an Airman 2nd Class and radio mechanic from 1951 until 1955. Bill fought bravely in the Korean War from 1954 until 1955. He went on to graduate from The University of Kentucky in 1956, where he met his wife Nelda. Married on Oct. 13, 1956, Bill and Nelda were married for 53 years.
Bill was a huge Wild Cat fan his entire life and was even awarded the Kentucky Colonel Award. Bill retired from AT&T after 34 years, working in Kentucky, Alabama, New Jersey and Georgia. Bill enjoyed his retirement by golfing, traveling and spending time at the lake boating with his family. Bill and his wife spent their golden years spending as much time as possible with their 11 precious grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife; sons, Michael, Jeffrey and William Walker; daughter, Adlen (Paul) Robinson; and 11 grandchildren.
The memorial service will be held Friday, June 4, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery.
