John Witham Obituary

John Elwood Witham, age 86, recently of Cumming, passed away in hospice care Friday, Dec. 31, 2010. He was born in Lima, Ohio, to Laura Snider and Jerry Maurice on Feb. 23, 1924. After serving our country in World War II, he moved to Atlanta in 1954, and was married to Frances Bolding for 56 years.
Self-employed with Witham's Drapery Service, he later moved to East Point and worked for Southern Wood Piedmont. He will be remembered and strongly missed for his wittiness and fun loving sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife; three children, Mark Witham (Nan) of Carrollton, Donna Eller of Cumming, Sue Lowman (Jerry) of Charleston, S.C.; five grandchildren, Brian (Maegan) and Laura Kate Witham, Bailey Eller, Joslyn and Joshua Lowman; as well as two sisters in Ohio.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 4, at 1 p.m. at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday, Jan. 3, at Byars Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m.
Byars Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
