William Palmer Obituary
Bill, having been raised in the Atlanta area, founded Applebee's in 1980 in Decatur, Georgia. After selling the Applebee's concept in the mid 1980's, he became a franchisee and actively continued in a leadership advisory role up until his passing. Bill cared so deeply about this Brand and all those who helped to build and nurture this concept. He was able to celebrate Applebee's 40th Anniversary this past month and was deeply touched by the outpouring of love by those he has impacted over the years. Bill will be remembered not only for the legacy he created but also for his roles as a loving husband, an amazing father, a friend to everyone and a mentor to all. His larger-than-life personality and sense of humor coupled with his intellect and creativity made him so very special to everyone who knew him.
Private services will be held at a later date. However, for those that wish to honor his memory, Bill was passionate in his support of Purple Pansies, a non-profit organization funding research for this horrific cancer. They may be reached through purplepansies.org.

I met Bill through mutual friends about 30 years ago and was instantly drawn to his bigger than life personality. The long discussions we had about life, family, friends and food highlighted his amazingly fun personality, genuine insight and true kindness as a man. Bill had so many deep values that impressed all who knew him. When Bill said he was ready to share the full and blessed life he had created, I instantly thought of my beautiful, inside and out friend, Candy. After a short time, they were inseparable and truly completed each other. I have never seen two people more meant for each other and able to enjoy each and every day.
Bill touched so many lives through friendships and mentoring. I am lucky to be in that group - he impacted my life in such a BIG way and will be remembered fondly.

Bill was like a second father to me. I was lucky enough to spend a lot of time with him as I grew up with his son. I often idolized him, and ended up becoming a chef as an adult in large part of my admiration for what he achieved.

Billy was a great friend when I lived in Sandy Springs across the street. We enjoyed high school and playing all sports on the street! He was always a hard worker, mowing lawns for spending money. I moved and we both moved on to college and life. He achieved so much in his life. I’m so sorry for his family and this loss.
