Adelbert Rekeweg Obituary

ADELBERT CARL REKEWEG, 81, of Decatur, died Tuesday, Mar. 9, 2004, at Adams County Memorial Hospital Emergency Room. Born Apr. 22, 1922, in Woodburn, he was a retired dairy farmer in Preble Township. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, rural Ossian; one of the founding members of the Preble Volunteer Firefighting Association and was an active firefighter until his retirement. Surviving are his wife, Lorene (Bauermeister) Rekeweg of Decatur; sons, Leonard A. Rekeweg of Preble and Duane E. (Alice) Rekeweg of rural Decatur; daughter, Mrs. Gregory (Linda E.) Mankey of Columbus, Ind.; brother, Edgar Rekeweg of Decatur and Richard Rekeweg of Fort Wayne; sisters, Elsie Rekeweg and Mrs. Robert (Bernice) Mock, both of Fort Wayne, Mrs. Loren (Margaret) Gerber of Stevensville, Mich. and Luella Gerling of Rocky Mount, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Alfred, Ernst, Herman and Lawrence Rekeweg; and three sisters, Eldora Schueler, Milda Steele and Gerda Hudgens. Service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, rural Ossian, with visitation one hour prior to service.
