Aunt Barb is always an inspiration of Love and Kindness - never a disdainful word, always a Beacon of Cheer (and a great cook during my family visits from Kalamazoo to Ft. Wayne, not to mention South Haven...)

Dear Mrs. Eckrich, You are one of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I will miss you more than words can say, and remember you forever.

Dear Eleanor, Emily, Ellen, and Eckrich family,

Please know that the Bill Burke family clan joined with you in spirit today to celebrate the life of our dear Aunt Barb and her reunion with Uncle Don in the loving embrace of Jesus, our Lord.

From my earliest memories of holidays at the "Top of the Hill" on Westnedge Ave, I remember Aunt Barb's laugh, which was as easy as it was hardy. I always thought she was Grandma Sophie's re-incarnation...with a little Ollie Ah (aka Auntie Anne) thrown in for good measure.

In more recent years, I loved that Aunt Barb honored the life of my Dad, her brother, by her presence at his funeral Mass just last November. What a lady, and what a sister!

God bless you all!
Love, Mary Anne (Burke) Van Oosterhout

Dear Don & Barb Eckrich children and grandchildren
Your parents were great examples for all of us to remember what it means to be true Christians.
Barb always was up beat no manner what the situation. They were great roll models for all of us.

Dear Emmie, Ellen, and all your family's families, My sincere sympathy to you and prayers in the days ahead for you! How wonderful your Mom had 91 years as Mom and Grandmother and great friend to you all! I can still remember years ago visiting her in the hospital after her heart surgery and asking her (as she pushed herself up in the bed so she could more easily visit), "Aren't you really sore from the surgery?" to which she responded, "This is nothing compared to having eight children!" Just took it in stride! Made me laugh as another parishioner and friend (a man) was in another room across the hall and moaning about how much pain--same surgery! Of course I told your Mom and she just gave a big laugh. She and Don are back together as a perfect couple and for all eternity! God bless.
