Cal Hile Obituary

CAL B. HILE, 72, of Noble Township, Noble County, died Sunday, July 29, 2007, 4:10 p.m., at his home. Born June 12, 1935, in Noble County, he was a son of Neil and Loleta (Haney) Hile. He spent his formative years in the Wolf Lake area where he attended elementary school and graduated from Wolf Lake High School, in 1953. He was employed by Dana/Weatherhead, Columbia City, retiring in 1985 with 31 years of service. He then spent eight years with Druge Screw Products, Warsaw. In 1993, he became co-owner of H and Z Machining, Fort Wayne for five years. He was currently working for Fox Contractors Corp. He was a member of Merriam Christian Chapel Church, Noble Township Fire Dept and Advisory Board, Dana Pioneer Club and Noble Township Democratic Committee. Surviving are his first wife, Shirley Hile of Albion; second wife, Carolyn Hile; five children, Scott Hile (Becky Reed) of Fort Wayne, Fran (Mar) Lortie of Cromwell, Jeff (Angie) Hile of Fort Wayne, Joe (Karen) Hile of Carmel, and Kelley (Dave) Andrus of Cedar Springs, Mich.; one sister, Waundean (Robert) Stangland of Columbia City; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday at Merriam Christian Chapel Church, 3985 S. US 33, Albion, with visitation one hour prior. The Rev. Barry Mershon and the Rev. Steve Pulley, church pastor, officiating. Visitation also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial in Christian Chapel Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to Gideons or Noble Township Fire Dept. Condolences may be sent to www.smithandsonsfuneralhome.com
