CAROLYN E. EHINGER

CAROLYN E. EHINGER, 75, of rural Decatur, passed peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012. Born Nov. 7, 1936, in Roanoke, she was the daughter of the late Harold D. and Evelyn B. (Neuer) Simon. She married Arthur L. Ehinger on June 11, 1955, at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Huntington. In 1970, the family moved to Decatur where she continued her dedication in caring for her family. She was very creative and enjoyed a variety of crafts including scrapbooking, needle work, crochet, cross stitch, quilting as well as being an accomplished seamstress. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Decatur where she took special joy in creating cards that she sent to the homebound. Survivors include her husband, Arthur L. Ehinger of Decatur; seven children, Jim (Tami) Ehinger of Bloomington, Barry (Anne) Ehinger of Decatur, Renee (Joe) Eisenhauer of Andrews, Charles (Kelly) Ehinger and Kate (Rob) Durbin, both of Decatur, Marta (Doug) Gilbert of Monroeville and Amy (Mike) Ream of Decatur; two sisters, Judy (Harold) Mowery of Fort Wayne and Janet (Leonard) Scher of Huntington; 24 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Perry, who died in infancy; and two brothers, Jack and Jerry Simon. Prayer service is 10:20 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Decatur. Father David Voors officiating. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at the funeral home, with reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:30 p.m. Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
