DANIEL ARNOLD Obituary

DANIEL L. ARNOLD, 70, of rural Kendallville, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014 at the Provena Sacred Heart Home in Avilla. Mr. Arnold had been in declining health since 2006. He was born in Garrett, July 4, 1944, a son of the late Kenneth and Dolores (Stonestreet) Arnold. He was a 1962 Avilla High School graduate that went on to get his master's degree from the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne. He retired from the East Noble School Corporation after many years being a middle school special education teacher. On March 21, 2011 in Albion he married Lisa M. Hess, she survives in Kendallville; also survivng are his son, Nathan Arnold of San Francisco, Calif.; daughter, Emily Arnold of Knoxville, Tenn.; stepson, Jacob Hines of Fort Wayne; and step daughters, Megan Hines and Katie Hines both of Kendallville; one brother, Mont (Constance) Arnold of LaGrange; sisters, Lola Rogers of North Patomic, Md., Sarah Arnold and her husband Roberta Gambi of Lahuple, Belgium and Celeste (James) Niles of Burlington, N.J.; stepbrothers-in-law, Thomas Hess Jr. and Matthew Hess both of Fort Wayne; and his mother-in-law, Barbara Bontempo of Fort Wayne; and his father-in-law, Thomas Hess of Grabill. Funeral Service is 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014 at the Brazzell Funeral Home, Avila Chapel. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at the Avilla Cemetery. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church or to the Fort Wayne Habitat for Hummanity. I worked with Dan at Kendallville Middle School. I will always remember the stories he told and his appreciation for simple living. He gave so much of himself to the kids that he taught. I know that he changed lives for the better.
