DEVAN DUNNO Obituary

DEVAN COLE DUNNO, 22, of Fort Wayne, went to be with our Lord on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, 7:58 a.m., at Wood view Nursing Home in Fort Wayne. Born Oct. 10, 1994, he was a 2014 graduate of Snider High School and attended Sullivan University in Louisville, Ky., as a culinary student. He loved cooking, listening to music, spending time with family and friends. He was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and was a member of Grace United Missionary Baptist Church. He loved his church family very much. Devan never met anyone he didn't like. He loved to laugh, especially with his buddy, Tina. He will be remembered most for his strength, bravery and his amazing heart. And his big beautiful smile will be missed more than anything. He is survived by his parents, Melissa Dunno and Courtenay Willis, both of Fort Wayne; older brother, Brandon Smith of Temecula, Calif. and younger brother, C.J. Willis of Fort Wayne, who were his best friends; grandparents, Michael Dunno of Delphos, Ohio, Pruda Dunno and Joyce Willis, of Fort Wayne; eight uncles; six aunts; and many cousins, other family members and friends who loved him dearly. Memorial service is 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at United Missionary Baptist Church, 2101 Phenie St., Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Additional visitation also from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for assistance with memorial services.

Just seeing that smile on the picture reminds me of a special neighbor who liked to cook and would once in awhile borrow a spice or something he did not have. He was a great neighbor boy and we are glad to have been able to know him and his family.

I remember when I met devan. We was a freshman in high school. He was so sweet and kind and always had a smile on his face. Devan, was such a kind hearted soul and loved to laugh and bring light to their dark. I remember when we was talking and he was talking about he wasn't scared to go be with God, really was a touchy subject and brought tears to my eyes. I never thought this day would come. May you rest in peace, and may you and your family come at peace and have a healing prayer to get you through these roughest days and night. Rest In Heaven Devan, until we meet again

You were all very brave, in Devan's last days. I'm so happy you were all able to have been together. He did some very special things, these last weeks, subsequently making you some wonderful memories. Devan was special - he was funny and warm, and brave in the end. May God surround your family with comfort.

Knowing it was coming doesn't make it easier on any of us. I am however grateful to have been able to spend time with him in his last days. He showed a strength and courage that is a lesson to us all. I pray for comfort and understanding for the family and friends and pray for Devon's joy now that he is without pain and spending his time with the Lord.
