Diana Lynn "Dede" Schierling

1953 - 2024

Diana "Dede" Lynn (Callant) Schierling's, faith became sight when she passed away on May 20, 2024, Dede loved Jesus, her grandkids, chocolate, her family, and friends - in that order! Dede was born in Schenectady, New York on July 9, 1953, to Thomas and Elizabeth (Pelton) Callant. She was the wife of Gary Schierling for 50 years, mom to Jodi (Brian) Koesters, Niki (Rick) Henderson, Jake Schierling, and her favorite role, grandma, to Carrissa (Daniel), Ailsa, Raelyn, Jaida, Maylee, Ayin, Layna, Tymon, Rube, Reid, Skylar, and Ana. She recently earned the title of great-grandma to Mia. She is the first of her siblings (Linda Smith, Sandy Till, Lori Fletcher, Mark Callant, Debi Shinn) to see her Savior face to face. A lover of learning, Dede graduated from Snider High School and Fort Wayne Bible College with degrees in Biblical Studies and Family Counseling. Some of her favorite work experiences include serving as an Avon representative in her community and as Mail Order Manager at DeBrand Fine Chocolates. Dede's many joys in life include being a prolific baker and dessert maker, laughing at 80's sitcoms, planning events and sleepovers for grandkids, traveling to be with grandkids, and most importantly, praying fervently over the lives of her loved ones. Dede was a servant-hearted prayer warrior. This was her most profound role. Her friendship with Jesus compelled her to share his love with others in many ways. She also loved and served her Brookside Church family for many years. Services will take place Friday May 31, 2024 at Brookside Church, 6102 Evard Road Fort Wayne, Indiana 46845 with family greeting from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Celebration of Life will begin at 12:00 pm.
