Dolores Marbaugh Obituary

Dolores Mary "Dee" (Jauregui) Marbaugh, 100, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away on September 29, 2025, She was born on June 24, 1925 near Berne, Indiana to Teófilo Jáuregui Torres and María Felícitas Castellanos and spent much of her childhood in Decatur. Dolores' family immigrated to the United States from Guadalajara, Mexico around 1917.

Dolores grew up during the depression and helped her family harvest sugar beets. She moved to Fort Wayne during World War II, retiring from General Electric in 1986 after 25 years of service. Dolores regretted her family's decision not to send her to high school, so in retirement she studied for and proudly earned her GED with her favorite subjects being history and geography. She also enjoyed many hobbies, including crocheting, sewing, quilting, and gardening.

Dolores didn't know a stranger. She could talk and joke with anyone, making friends wherever she went. Family and her Catholic faith were important to Dolores, and she was fiercely loyal. Up until her passing, she was the oldest member of the Jauregui-Velez family, and for more than 40 years, she helped organize the family's annual reunion at Franke Park.

Dolores is survived by her three sons: Ralph (Monica) Vela, of Fort Wayne; Dennis (Carrie) Vela, of Leesburg, Indiana; Mark (Charissa) Vela, of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Veronica Vela, of Indianapolis; Nicholas Neuhaus and Hanna (Vela) Witt, of Warsaw; Heaven (Honeycutt) Courter, Eden, and Alani Vela, of Fort Wayne; great-grandchildren, Elianna, Liliana, Oliver, Lake, Reign, Elysian, and Hayas; and a large extended family. She is preceded in death by her second husband, Verne D. Marbaugh; her parents; four brothers, Emmanuel, Jesús "Jesse", Ralph, Guadalupe "John" Jauregui; and sister, Josephine Corral.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 6 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne.
