Doris Pflughaupt Obituary

DORIS EMILE MEYR PFLUGHAUPT, 64, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2006 at Northeast Medical Center, Concord, N.C. She was born March 3, 1942 in New Wells, Mo., the daughter of the late Ruben and Gertrude (Schlimpert) Meyr. She attended the Lutheran grade school in New Wells and high school in Chaffee, Mo. She attended St. Paul's Junior College in Concordia, MO, before graduating from Concordia River Forest in 1965. In 1981, she received her Masters from IPFW. She was a Kindergarten teacher at Emmanuel-St. Michael Lutheran School for 38 years retiring in May 2005. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. "Her desire to become a teacher began early in life. She enjoyed children, and fell that by teaching in a parochial school she could share her Savior with children. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking and spending time with her grandchildren." Above all she was a devoted loving wife, mother and grandmother Surviving is her husband Roger D. Pflughaupt of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Stephanie (Daren) Parker of Concord, N.C. and Leslie (Eric) Adair of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren, Austin, Landon and Bryce Parker, Ashley, Emily and Alec Adair; five brothers, Ryland "Dutch" (Sharon) Meyr of Jackson, MO, Larry (Judi) Meyr, Chaffee, Mo., Dennis (Sandy) Meyr, St. Louis, Mo., Glen (Corliss) Meyr of Chaffee, Mo., Rex (Patricia) Meyr, of Jackson, Mo; sister, Loretta (David) Ezell of Poplar Bluff, Mo. She was preceded in death by a son Neal Andrew Pflughaupt in July 1989. Service is 2 p.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church 917 W. Jefferson Blvd. with calling one hour prior to service. Calling is also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road. Burial at Greenlawn Cemetery. Memorials to Emmanuel St. Michael Lutheran School.
