DORIS WEISHEIT

DORIS WEISHEIT, 88, formerly of Fort Wayne, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017 at Putnam Farms Assisted Living in Danvers, Mass. Born Aug. 15, 1929 in Montezuma, Ind., she was a daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Fox) Phillips. She graduated from Montezuma High School in 1947. On May 10, 1947, she married Carl H. Weisheit. They were married for 61 years at the time of his death in 2008. Doris worked for a number of years at Magnavox as a draftsman. In later years, she worked as a cook at Zion Lutheran School, and served as cafeteria manager at Concordia Lutheran High School for 18 years before her retirement. Doris cherished her family, and was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved gardening, and took great pride in both her flower and vegetable gardens. She especially loved her many varieties of lilies. Survivors include her daughter, Cristina M. Brueggeman and grandson, Eric C. Brueggeman, both of Gloucester, Mass. In addition to her husband, Carl, Doris was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Donald and Paul Phillips; and two sisters, Marilyn McCarty and Joanne Blackburn. Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017 at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave. The Rev. Russell Dewell and the Rev. Ingo Dutzmann officiating. Calling is from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, 2017 at the funeral home. Entombment in Concordia Cemetery Gardens. Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association.
