Dorwin Wilson Obituary

DORWIN M. WILSON, Central Intelligence Agency Officer, 76, of McLean, Va., died of a stroke Oct. 24, 2004, in Fairfax County, Va. Mr. Wilson was born in Kansas City, Mo., but grew up in Fort Wayne. He was a 1946 graduate of Central High School. He served in a U.S. Army Band Unit from 1946 to 1948. He was a 1952 graduate of Northwestern University and spent several years with Chrysler Export in Detroit, Mich., before joining the CIA in 1957. After tours in Kenya, Zambia, and South Africa, he became the Head of Africa Division and then Latin America Division. He and his wife served their last tour with the U.S. Mission in Geneva, Switzerland. Upon retirement in 1992, he received the CIA's highest award, the Distinguished Intelligence Medal. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Martha Carnahan Wilson, also a Fort Wayne native, of McLean, and a son, Creighton H. Wilson of Bel Air, Md. Memorial service is 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, in the Bohn Chapel at Lindenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Allen County Library or a charity of your choice.
