Memories of "Miss Lageer" go way back for Elmer, from his years in Nigeria when she served as a missionary alongside his parents. Years later, at Emmanuel Bible College she was our missions Prof, giving us the nitty gritty of life as an adult ministering to others overseas. Like many others, we recall her emphasis on 'rising EARLY in the morning" to pray, like Joshua! One of my most memorable lessons was how to pack.. one of her most favorite things, a mirror, was broken because she was afraid to pack it tightly into place in the drum. As a result it moved around and shattered. Her remorse over that mirror rings in my 'ears' in the 30 some years I have spent packing and unpacking for our family. Another thing that impressed us both was her desire to learn more. Retirement meant freedom to learn mechanics and another language!
No more packing, no more remorse.... only joy as she worships at the Father's Feet EARLY in heaven's 'dawn', for eternity. Until we meet again...

I definitely knew Eileen Lageer. She taught me English at Hillcrest School in Jos, Nigeria,
for Grade 9 to 11! She conducted choir at that school and taught us rambunctious teenagers to sing "Art thou weary? Art thou languid? Art thou sore distressed? Come to ONE and in your coming be at rest." She also produced Cheaper by the Dozen in which I was one of the leading actors, the mother of the dozen kids who were being trained in Assembly LIne Efficiency by the father in the family. The mother had red hair and had passed that gene on to most of her bairns. So Eilleen took me to a hair salon in Jos and had my hair dyed red! When I cut my hair, I saved it and I still have that envelope of red hair!
During a period of teenage angst and depression in my life I remember her kind counselling out of the Scriptures: Hebrews 12;... "My child, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, or lose heart when you are punished or experience trials...God is treating you like all good parents treat their children.. Now discipline always is painful rather than pleasant at the time, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness by those who are trained by it. Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees and make straight paths for your feet so that you may no longer be out of joint, but be healed."
Yes! I have good memories of Miss Eileen Lageer!.

Through-out my years at EBC, Eileen was a constant, faithful teacher and woman of God. I will always remember teaching us about Joshua. She would remind us many times that he arose early in the morning. Her point was that we too should rise up early in the morning to pray and spend time with our God. How right she was. We will miss your big smile and gentle heart Eileen. See you someday again with our Savior. Thank you for speaking into my life. I will never forget you.

We both have very fond memories of Eileen while we were students at Emmanuel Bible college. Her many courses that she taught are often brought back to our memories especially things like Joshua rose early in the morning. Our sincere condolences to the family.

Eileen Lageer taught me at Emmanuel and she was an inspiration to me. She was a strong, independent, smart and beautiful Christian woman when role models like her were few and far between. She took the time to listen to us as students and even invited us into her home. I will never forget her godly influence in my life. Heaven has gained a wonderful soul.

I was sorry to hear of the passing of Eileen. It was a privilege to know her. She was a wonderful woman of God and spoke into my life several times. She taught me in a Journalism class while I was at EBC and in recent years continued to show her dedication to her students by giving me writing tips via email. I will treasure those and her influence on my life.

Eileen was a woman of dignity and inspiration. She was a wonderful example of a "follower of Jesus on mission to the world." She was a great mentor. She was a woman of influence. She was a great teacher. Her life definitely impacted the path of mine. Thanks Eileen.

Saddened to hear the news of Eileen's passing but thankful for her passing into the presence of the Lord she loved and served over many years. Especially we honour her service at Emmanuel Bible College where she taught and mentored students as they sought God's leading in their lives. Timothy, you are in our prayers as you mourn.
