Elvia Parra Obituary

Elvia Parra, 74, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away on December 16, 2024, surrounded by family. She was born in October 1950 in Hughes, Arkansas. Elvia enjoyed working in her garden, reading her daily Bible scripture, spending time and dining with her former coworkers from the Auditor's Office, and watching HGTV shows along with Western movies. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Dennis Gould of Fort Wayne; daughter, Anita (Daniel) Mendez Clare of Burnsville, MN; son, Jesse (Alma) Mendez of Chandler, AZ; 7 grandchildren (Jennifer, Emily, Nicolas, Ryan, Adam, Angel, and Victoria); 4 great-grandchildren (Joshua, Axelson, Carson, and Asher); sisters Maria M and Norma E (Ron Halvorson) Parra both from Fort Wayne; and many nieces, nephews, pets, and friends. She was preceded in death by two sons, Nicolas Domingo and Adam Michael Mendez; her parents Fidel and Maria Parra; and two brothers, Carlos and Fidel Parra. She attended Central Catholic High School and retired from the United States Postal Service after 35 years of service. Elvia had a strong work ethic and was always willing to care for her community. She was an animal lover and always had pets (dogs/cats) in her home. Elvia cherished her extended family and friends and will be missed by all.

Instead of flowers, her family requests a donation to the Humane Society of Fort Wayne at https://humanefw.org/

A Graveside Service will be held in March 2025.

condolences to the family. I worked with this sweet sweet person @ the United States Post Office. I visited her home as she shared her recipes of tacos and tostadas. She always had a ready smile. Peace be still

Elvia was truly a special lady. We meet and became good friends at USPS . We both had lost a child and attended grief services together. Elvia was a friend to all and had a heart of gold. She was as beautiful in the inside as she was on the outside. She will be greatly missed . My prayers are with the family during this difficult time.
