EMMA MELCHER Obituary

EMMA MELCHER, 107 years, 6 months, and 9 days, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, May 12, 2017. She was born on Nov. 2, 1909. Emma contributed her long life to work, a sales associate at Macy's until age 96, and to gardening so that she could share flowers and vegetables with friends and associates. Surviving are daughters, Marlene "Marty" Stover and Barbara Shepherd; son, Stephen "Steve" (Donna) Melcher; daughter-in-law, Sally Melcher; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; and a son, Fred. Funeral services, with the Rite of Christian Burial, is 11 a.m. Thursday, May 18, 2017, at St. John Lutheran Church - Flatrock, Monroeville, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Christian officiating. Friends will also be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at the church. Preferred memorials to St. John Lutheran Church - Flatrock or Parkview Hospice.
