Essie Ellis Obituary

ESSIE ELLIS, 73, of Fort Wayne, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Visiting Nursing & Hospice Home. Born in Marion, Ala., she moved to Fort Wayne, in 1957. She was a retired Home Heath Aide and a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church. Surviving are her children, Andre' King, Olden King Jr., James Underwood, Johnnie L. Ellis and Mary Starks, all of Fort Wayne and John H. Ellis Jr. of Arlington, Texas; a sister, Flora Manning of Fort Wayne; a brother, Raymond Laster Sr. of Marion, Ala.; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; god-daughter, Deb Jones; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Ellis. Service is 1 p.m. Friday at Greater Progressive Baptist Church, 2215 John St. Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Providence Baptist Church, 2317 Holton Ave. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.
