FREDERICK J. "RICK" DUMIT II

1944 - 2023

FREDERICK J. "RICK" DUMIT II, 79, of Fort Wayne, Ind., passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. Rick was born on July 14, 1944 in Sabot, Via., a son of the late Frederick J. and Kathryn (Ross -man) Dumit. He served in the U.S. Navy for six years and then he received a Bachelor's degree from Michigan State University. He worked as an electrical engineer for Magnavox, which later became Raytheon for 29 years before retiring. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Fort Wayne, served as a volunteer at Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control as well as fostering kittens, and was on the Wheatridge Association board for 20 years. In his free time, he enjoyed coaching soccer, fixing things for the family, hiking, and his love of boats inspired him to learn to sail. His real passion and skill though was his woodworking. He created many wonderful pieces from all types of wood that his family and friends cherish. Surviving family include his wife, Patricia "Pat" Dumit; children, Jennifer (Matthew) Miller, Chris (Hannah) Dumit, Michelle (Brian) Komprood; seven grandchildren, Noah, Elijah, Quinn, Garik, Reid, Silas, and Katie. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2023, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1502 East Wallen Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne. Burial will be at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
