Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and CrematoryArthur M. Camara, age 83, of Kent, Ohio, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Western Reserve Hospital.
Born December 12, 1942 in Fall River, Massachusetts to the late Arthur Camara Sr. and Clementine (deLawrence) Camara, he grew up in New England and was known as ‘Butch’ to family and friends.
While attending Michigan State University, Art met his wife Susan at the MSU Student Union and they were married 55 years. He worked in the food industry at Stop & Shop, Kroger and General Foods.
Art was a lifelong baseball fan and loved the Boston Red Sox. Art was known for his dry sense of humor and was especially happy on days when the New York Yankees lost.
He is survived by his wife, Susan (Brooks) Camara; sons, Aaron (Kelly) Camara, Adam (Tracy) Camara; daughter, Allison (Kristofer) Knecht; grandchildren, John, Kyle (Kylie), Joshua, Nicholas, Abigail, and Andrew Camara, Madison Smalley, Griffin Wiard, Kellen and Aurora Knecht; great-grandchild, Winston Camara. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A family gathering will be held in Michigan on February 21, 2026. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, May 8, 2026, at Standing Rock Cemetery, 1361 N. Mantua St. Kent, OH 44240, with Kevin O'Brien officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Friends of Kent Free Library.
