GEORGE CHESSARE

GEORGE CHESSARE, loving husband and father, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, in Tucson, Ariz. His parents emigrated from Sicily and settled on a dairy farm in lower New York State, where they raised five children. He earned his Mechanical Engineering Degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. After graduation, George was employed at International Harvester Truck Engineering Center, Fort Wayne for 36 years. He designed and built their home where they lived for 50 years. After his retirement, George and Barbara enjoyed traveling in the US and internationally, which included mission trips as well. After Barbara's death George continued traveling around the world. He also spent time working on Habitat for Humanity projects in Tucson and Henderson Settlement in Kentucky. His interests included gardening, woodworking, photography, quilting, and working on the computer. He always liked watching the latest movies. Surviving are his son, Gary (Debra) Chessare; and daughter, Sondra Chessare (Tom Hammond). Service is 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at Waynedale United Methodist Church, 2501 Church St., Fort Wayne (IN 46809), with calling from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
