Louise Joan Barnhart

Louise Joan Barnhart, 95, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. Born July 9, 1930, in Churubusco, IN. She worked as a secretary at Magnavox, Hamilton Hunter, and retired from Fort Wayne Community Schools in 1997 after 22. 5 years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star; #136, Churubusco, Sigma Eta Nu Chapter: IAEOP. She loved her college basketball (IU & Purdue). She supported all women's sports and of course the Cubbies. She was preceded in death by her parents Guy and Mary Lois (McGuire) Gross as well as her husband, Donald J. Barnhart in 2009, sister Constance Teghtmeyer and two brothers Donald and Robert Gross. She is survived by her sister MaryAnn (Gross) Hazen and brother Lynn Gross, sons Tim (Vivian) Barnhart and Kent Barnhart (Anne Karsten). Five grandchildren - Aaron (Samantha) Barnhart, Rhys (Amanda) Barnhart, Spencer (Jamie) Barnhart, Katie Barnhart, Emma Barnhart and 5 great-grandchildren - Landon, Hadley, Rhys, Jr., Reagan and Madalyn. Funeral services at the funeral home are Monday, March 30, 2026, at 11:00 with calling one hour before. The internment will be at Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco, IN immediately following the service. Calling is Sunday, March 29, 2026, 2:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley. Memorials are to Cancer Services of NE Indiana.
