GREGGORY NEWHARD Obituary

GREGGORY PAUL NEWHARD, 58, of Kendallville, Ind., passed away on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, after a stroke suffered earlier in the same week. Born in Fort Wayne, Ind. on Feb. 7, 1960, Gregg was the son of Norma Jean Gilbert and Paul O. Newhard. His father preceded him in death in 1980. Gregg lived the past many years in Kendallville, Ind., where he was a dedicated employee of Reliable Tool and Machine Co. Gregg's brother, Neil, preceded him in death in November 2017. Neil spent the last seven months of his life with family in Rome City where Gregg was a frequent visitor, bringing Neil projects, taking him for Sunday rides, and bringing food or chicken dinner for visiting family. Gregg and Neil shared a love of shooting, hunting, and movies. "In retrospect, those Sunday drives must have been full of interesting, rifle range shop talk. The two men loved to share information. Thinking about or talking about his daughter, Ashley, and her two beautiful children, made Gregg the happiest of all. He would bend the ear of anyone who would listen. He had a hearty laugh and an easy smile. It seemed as if his life had only just begun. He was a good man and he will be dearly missed." Gregg is survived by his daughter, Ashley Aaryn Martin (William) of Milan, Mich.; two grandchildren, Mason and Madison; and two sisters, Lydia Heastan (Harley) of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Louise Clark (Steven) of Wilmette, Ill. Gregg is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Service is 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 2435 Engle Road, Fort Wayne, Ind. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to United Way of Noble County, Inc., 119 West Mitchell Street, Kendallville (IN 46755).

On this anniversary of Gregg's death, please know we are thinking of you and still smiling at the memories I had of working with Gregg at Fort Wayne Air Service. Ashley, and family, you are in our thoughts today.

So very sorry for your loss. I worked with Gregg at Fort Wayne Air Service for many years. I was a receptionist in the evening and weekends. Ashley, I attended your parent's wedding and remember when you were born. Your Dad provided many a laugh for me during our work time together and was a hard worker. My memories of him bring a smile. May your memories bring you comfort. Joyce (Crain) Valois

My condolences at your loss. I worked with Greg at Fort Wayne Air Service many years ago. It certainly does not seem that long ago. I can recall Greg's unique and boisterous laugh like it was yesterday. I smile when I think about Greg and his antics with coworker and friend "Zuber". Greg had an old Ford Falcon, possibly a 1965ish car. For whatever reason he decided to paint it black using cans and cans of aerosol paint purchased at Big Lots. No tape needed,,,,,,bumpers and door handles all black too! Greg was a hard worker and often worked two jobs. Greg was a good guy! So sorry for your loss!
