Helen E. Hlawek

Helen E. Hlawek, 97, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, at Saint Anne Home. She was born Aug. 12, 1928 in Kimberly, MN. She was the daughter of the late Winsel Hlawek and Kate (Dannenfelzer) Hlawek. Helen moved to Fort Wayne, IN at the age of 18. She began working at General Electric (G.E.) as a Specifications Clerk and retired in 1988 after 42 years of service. She enjoyed volunteering for Cancer Services sewing pads and filling food bags for those in need at the Community Harvest Food Bank. She was a longtime and devoted member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church. Helen was also preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. Surviving are a niece, Phyllis (Lehman) Oldenkamp; nephew, Harvey (Janet) Trees; great-nieces, Kimberly Lehman, Joyce Carroll, Sarah (Greg) Gustafson and Carrie Frances Ferlita and great-nephews, Kyle (Amy) Lehman, James (Dee) Fisher, Jerry Fisher and Charles Hlawek. Visitation is 10 - 11 am Monday, Aug. 25, 2025 at D. O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home-Maplewood Park, 4017 Maplecrest Rd.(FTW) Rosary begins at 11 am followed by service. Burial in Forest Cemetery in Aitkin, MN. Preferred memorials to St. Jude’s Catholic Church.
