JACK WETZEL Obituary

JACK WETZEL, 85, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2023, in his home. Born Aug. 31, 1937, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of Charles and Erma (Graft) Wetzel. He graduated from University of St. Francis with a master's in education. Jack was a lifetime educator, retiring in 2000 from East Allen County Schools. Jack married his first wife, Sharon Aukerman, on Oct. 10, 1963; she preceded him in death. Jack later married Patricia Majocchi on Oct. 23, 2021, in Ossian, Ind. He was a member of the First Assembly Church of God in Fort Wayne. Survivors include his wife, Patricia; son, Timothy (Nikki) Wetzel of Fort Wayne; daughters, Kristine Wetzel and Shelly (Thomas) Drew, both of Fort Wayne; daughter-in-law, Rose Wetzel of Fort Wayne; stepchildren, Diana Martin of Fort Wayne, Paula (Earl) Duncan of Avilla, Bryan Jacobi of Fort Wayne, and Robin (Zach) Zumbrun of Tennessee; four grandchildren, and eight step-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon; parents, Charles and Erma; son, Matthew Wetzel; and grandparents he was raised by Herman and Pearl Graft. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, at Harper Funeral Homes, Avilla Chapel, 530 N. Main St., Avilla, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Pastor Jim Rea will officiate. Burial will follow at Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco. Contributions in Jack's memory may be directed to the Allen County Animal Control, or First Assembly Church of God.
