JAMES F. CAREY

JAMES F. CAREY, 85, passed away Wednesday, Jan 26, 2022, in Fort Wayne. He was the owner and operator of Jim Carey Auto for 43 years and a past member of Broadway Christian Church. Jim was truly blessed with an outgoing personality as "his friends were many, and his enemies few". He could be put in a room with a complete stranger and 10 minutes later have a friend for life. Jim was known for being a workaholic and never became tired of giving to others. Many customers with disabilities became recipients of vans at no profit, and no negotiation. Coho fishing and sharing his boat with friends on Lake Michigan was a near perfect getaway. He leaves behind his wife, Susie; daughters, Lorena (Ron) Uplinger, and Kassie (Chris) Fisher; twin grandsons, Rick and Ryan; twin granddaughters, Sara and Amy; grandsons, Tyler and Landen; and many wonderful extended family members. Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Jeanie; and parents, Pauline Dunton and Rex Carey. Service is 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022, (NEW DATE DUE TO WEATHER) at FairHaven Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St., with calling two hours prior beginning at 2 p.m. The family requests everyone wear a mask. Memorials may be made to Broadway Christian Church or the Salvation Army.
