Janet Ruth Suter, 87, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, Janet Ruth Mosel was born August 17, 1938, at home in Convoy, Ohio to Arthur Wilson Mosel and Inez Marie (Murphy) Martin. She grew up in Fort Wayne and graduated from South Side High School in 1956.
In 1963, Janet met Jack Gares Suter while working in the Allen County Auditor's Office. They were married on November 21, 1964, in Jack's hometown of West Unity, Ohio. He survives her, along with their son John Edward Suter of Indianapolis, daughter Jennifer Christine Longoria (Steve) of Granite Bay, California, and grandsons Jack, Spencer, and Grant Longoria. She is also survived by her brother Craig Martin (Connie) of Fort Wayne, her sister-in-law, Sue Ellen West of Kendallville, Indiana, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters Constance Elless, Jeanne Kendall, Carolanne Bloomfield, and her brother Ronald Martin.
Throughout her life, Janet was a fiercely dedicated mother and was passionately involved in organizations at her children's schools. She held many roles with the Parent Teacher Association at St. Joe Elementary School, including one term as the organization's President. She was an active band and pom pon parent with Northrop High School's "Big Orange Pride" and spent many weekends watching her children perform at band competitions and sporting events.
Outside of her children's school activities, she was a member of Daughters of the Nile and Psi Iota Xi Sorority, national philanthropic organizations. She served on the Board of Trustees at Taylor Chapel Methodist Church, and her activities at the church allowed her to develop many of her most cherished friendships.
In later years, Janet and Jack enjoyed traveling, and made many trips to Europe. They also spent several weeks each year in California visiting their grandchildren, who were her greatest joy in life. Nothing made her happier than telling people about them. A memorial celebration of life will be held in Fort Wayne at a later date, with internment to take place at Floral Grove Cemetery in West Unity, Ohio.
