Jean Mary Collins

JEAN MARY COLLINS, 90, of Fort Wayne, died Friday, March 13, 2009, at Kingston Care Center. She was born on Sept. 8, 1918, in London, England and came to Fort Wayne in April of 1919, with her parents. She graduated from Central High School in 1937 and attended classes at Indiana University Extension and Fort Wayne Art School. She was employed with the Cripe and Forbing Insurance Agencies and Empire Fire and Marine Insurance Company. She played violin for the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra for many years and was a member of the Fort Wayne Womens Club, the Insurance Womens Association, the Bus Riders Committee and sang in the choir at Wayne Street Methodist Church. She was active with the West Central Neighborhood Association for many years and also enjoyed reading and oil painting. She is survived by a cousin, Doris Brineman of Bloomington; and caregivers, Judy and Jerry Lehman of Huntertown. Funeral service is 3 p.m. Thursday at Klaehn, Fahl, & Melton Funeral Home, Wayne Street Chapel, 420 West Wayne Street, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery.
