Although John and I were not in the same class at Homestead (he was a year above me), and didn't know each other well, when I ran into John at Lutheran at work, he ALWAYS stopped to say hi and have a small chat with me. He was always smiling. My husband (South Side) played against John in tennis in high school, and he always told me their nickname for John was Smiley. John, you will be missed by many. Your family will be in our thoughts during this most difficult time. Tracey Thieme Sheppard

He was my doctor until he left to work at Lutheran Hospital. He was wonderful and had a very caring manner. The world lost a great person.
