Mr. Stearns was a good lifelong friend of my dad, Paul Swartz. I enjoyed hearing about their (sometimes harrowing) trips to take photographs at the Indianapolis 500 back in the 1950s.

Dear Neighbors from Long Ago, The entire Finch family is with you in your sadness, and in the memories that make us smile. Our continuing involvement and joy in Hockey dates back to the first time John took John Finch to a Komet game. Thanks, Mr. Stearns! The Finch Family

I shall always remember John as having one of the most cheerful attitudes regardless of the situation. My association with him was when I was with the Komet Hockey Club and he made my life easier. He was a skilled artist and took pride in his work. His dedication and skill shall be missed and hard to repeat in this generation.
